President Franklin D. Roosevelt
32nd President of the United States 1933-1945
Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only President to serve more than two terms in office. He became President in 1932 in the midst of the Great Depression and helped America survive one of the darkest moments in its history with his innovative New Deal policies.
World War II provided Roosevelt with new challenges, but he attacked them with great resolve and provided the strong leadership America needed in a time of war. He died in office in 1945, shortly after his unprecedented fourth inauguration.
The 20¢ Franklin D. Roosevelt stamp was issued on January 30, 1982 – the precise 100th anniversary of Roosevelt’s birth.
