Great Smoky Mountains

Of all the 59 national parks, none gets more visitors than Great Smoky Mountains, attracting more than 10 million people annually. The Great Smoky Mountains, which are part of the Appalachian Mountains, have one of the rainiest habitats in North America. This creates dense patches of fog, resulting in what looks like “smoke stacks” coming out of the mountains from a distance. The main attraction of the national park is hiking the more than 800 miles of trails, including 70 miles of the the famous Appalachian Trail.
